So… my first convention. Animazement 2001. I get to the hotel, we get checked in, and I toss on my Selphie costume. I’m so excited I don’t bother with my hair, and (as usual in those early days) didn’t bother with makeup.
I stepped out of the elevator, not knowing what to expect but excited beyond belief to be there. And what is the first cosplayer I see when I step out? A Selphie in school uniform! I don’t remember if she asked to take a pic with me or if I did, but we stood together while her friend and my dad and, apparently, one other person took our picture.
It was my first time ever getting my picture taken at a con. It was *exhilarating.* People taking my picture! Perfect strangers! I was hooked for life.
And, as it turns out, who was that other, third photographer? Why, it was Eurobeat King. I just thought it was hilarious that I actually know and have my first photo taken by someone I didn’t know at a convention.
